Watershed Conditions : Water Safety Statement
Weather Forecast:
A significant weather system is forecasted to cross the province over the weekend and into next week. Environment and Climate Change Canada is forecasting 20-40 mm of rain starting Thursday, December 20th through Friday, December 21st. In addition, above freezing temperatures are forecasted during the day on Thursday and Friday.
Environmental Conditions:
Water levels across the jurisdiction are at normal conditions. The amount of snow on the landscape is slightly bellow normal for this time of year in most areas.
Risks:
The forecasted precipitation and associated snowmelt are likely to produce high water levels and possible nuisance flooding.
ACTION:
Residents are advised to exercise caution when near rivers as the forecasted weather may rapidly increase river flows and cause slippery river banks. Parents are encouraged to explain these dangers to their children.
Duration:
This statement is in effect until Tuesday, December 25th, 2018.
