WATERSHED CONDITIONS: WATER SAFETY STATEMENT – OTTAWA RIVER
Weather Forecast
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada precipitation is forecasted across the Ottawa River watershed for Thursday through the weekend.
Environmental Conditions:
According to the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board, the lower river reach water levels and flows are expected to peak sometime mid-week.
Risks:
Continued spring runoff due to high temperatures and the forecasted precipitation are likely to increase water levels and cause nuisance flooding in low-lying areas.
ACTION:
Residents are advised to exercise caution when near rivers as the forecasted weather may rapidly increase river flows and cause slippery river banks.
Parents are encouraged to explain these dangers to their children.
Duration:
This statement is in effect until Friday, May 11, 2018
