DELTA WATERFOWL PRESENTS FIFTH CONSERVATION BANQUET

11-Feb-2013 04-Oct-2013

The popular South Nation/Delta Waterfowl Banquet is returning March 2nd for a fifth year to Finch Community Centre, the objective being to raise funds to promote responsible hunting and conservation in the 4,000 square-km South Nation River watershed.

Delta Waterfowl is a North America-wide organization dedicated to informed, controlled hunting and to conserving wetlands for breeding. In partnership with South Nation Conservation, Delta is working to gain new members, said banquet organizer Ryan Robson.

Robson said funds raised last year through ticket sales as well as live and silent auctions supported the annual Youth Hunt. The Youth Hunt is designed to introduce young people with little or no previous experience to responsible hunting.

Beginning with a social time at 5 pm followed by a beef and chicken dinner at 6:00 pm, tickets are $35 for youth, $50 for adults, $75 a couple, and $1,000 for a sponsor table of eight. A variety of items will be up for grabs in the silent and live auctions.

All ticket purchasers will get a one-year membership in Delta Waterfowl and four issues of the organization’s magazine. Participants are encouraged to bring along non-perishable items for the local food bank for a chance at a special prize.

The organization and the event are endorsed by SNC where Robson works as a Resource Technician. A portion of money raised will go to the Delta main office for programs such as Adopt a Pothole, hen houses, predator management and general conservation policy implementation.
