Donate to Your Local Conservation Authority This Holiday Season
Are you looking to donate to a local charity this holiday season? Do you want your donation to make a difference in your community?
South Nation Conservation (SNC) is a not-for-profit, community-based environmental agency that relies on donations and self-generated revenue to protect and enhance the local environment across its 4,384 square-kilometer jurisdiction in Eastern Ontario.
In 2019, donations accounted for 10% of SNC’s annual operating budget, helping engage communities and fund bilingual environmental outreach programs for local youth such as Youth Fishing Camps, Maple Syrup Education, and the Stream of Dreams Eco-Educational Art Program.
Donations can be made towards a particular Conservation Area for property or trail upgrades, in memory of a loved one, or they may benefit habitat restoration initiatives which help to maintain and increase local biodiversity.
“Whether you want us to plant trees or deliver education programs, you can choose where your donation will go, and you can remain anonymous if you’d like.” explains John Mesman, SNC’s Communications Lead. “Donating goes a long way to support the work we do to help improve the environment.”
Donations can be made online at www.nation.on.ca/donate or by contacting the Conservation Authority’s head office in Finch at 1-877-984-2948 or info@nation.on.ca. SNC is a registered charity with the Canadian Revenue Agency and may issue donation receipts for tax return purposes.
“Our extremely hard-working teams have lead hundreds of environmental projects to success, thanks to the help of our donors, community and municipal partners,” added Mesman. “We greatly appreciate the support which helps to fund local environmental projects that might not otherwise be possible.”
