Discover the World of Sweet Ontario Maple Syrup
Join South Nation Conservation (SNC) on April 1 and 2 to discover the world of sweet Ontario maple syrup during Maple Weekend organized by the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association.
Ontario maple syrup farms are known for producing some of the highest quality syrup in the world. During Maple Weekend, local producers will demonstrate how syrup is made – whether by boiling the sap in a cauldron over an open fire, or processing it through high-tech RO systems and modern fuel-efficient evaporators, the results always taste great!
“SNC will be handing out free hot chocolate to visitors from 11am to 3pm at 4 of the Eastern Ontario farms participating in the event,” says Kelsey Smith, SNC’s Communications Assistant. On April 1, SNC will be at Proulx Maple and Berry Farm in Cumberland and Grampies Sugar Shack in Chesterville. On April 2, SNC will be at Sand Road Maple Farm in Moose Creek and La Cabane des Gars in Fournier.
Producers will be offering a range of activities including fresh syrup sampling, pancake breakfasts, sugarbush trails, sugar-making demonstrations, taffy on snow, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and much more.
“Join us to learn more about the traditions of maple syrup production and a chance to taste why pure Ontario maple syrup is a favorite springtime treat,” adds Smith.
Visit www.mapleweekend.ca for a detailed description of each sugarhouse including their location and specific activities they will be offering you during Maple Weekend. Share in the fun of the sweetest time of the year!
