SNC Opens Parks and Extends Office Hours This Week!
South Nation Conservation (SNC) has re-opened its parks, trails, docks and boat launches in time for the Victoria Day long weekend.
SNC’s network of 14 day-use Conservation Areas across its 4,384 square-kilometer jurisdiction in Eastern Ontario are accessible free of charge and provide public access to the Conservation Authority’s 12,000 acres of community land. These well-maintained properties offer endless, close-to-home recreational opportunities in natural areas.
Whether it’s for fishing, bird watching, geocaching, paddling or hiking, all are welcomed and encouraged to get outdoors and step into nature at a local Conservation Area.
“With well over 30 kilometers of trails to explore, 9 docks and boat launches which provide river access, SNC’s Conservation Areas offer perfect opportunities for local adventures,” said John Mesman, SNC’s Communications Lead.
Jessup’s Falls Conservation Area in Plantagenet and Robert Graham Conservation Area in Glen Stewart will remain temporarily closed due to high water levels and flooded trails.
Beginning on May 23 until Thanksgiving, SNC’s head office in Finch will remain open until 7:00 pm on Thursdays to provide residents with extended-service options and opportunities to meet with SNC staff about summer projects and permit approvals.
Thursday evenings are also great opportunity for local residents to inquire about SNC’s programs and services, upcoming events, and available free meeting rooms at SNC’s head office in Finch.
“We’re looking forward to another busy and productive summer, sharing public natural spaces and delivering environmental services to our member municipalities and their residents,” added Mesman.
