Weather Forecast

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada warm temperatures are expected over the coming weeks in the Ottawa River basin.

Environmental Conditions:

According to the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board, spring runoff in the northern and central portions of the Ottawa River basin is expected to continue to increase due to forecasted warm temperatures and recent precipitation.

Risks:

Continued spring runoff are likely to produce high water levels and possible nuisance flooding in low-lying areas. According to the Ottawa Board, based on the current snowpack and weather forecast, levels and flows are expected to remain within the normal range of fluctuations for this time of year.

ACTION:

Residents are advised to exercise caution when near rivers as the forecasted weather may rapidly increase river flows and cause slippery river banks.

Parents are encouraged to explain these dangers to their children.

Duration:

This statement is in effect until Monday, May 7, 2018
