Get Outdoors! SNC Lands Offer Year Round Recreation
While the dog days of summer may be behind us, there are still great opportunities to enjoy the outdoors this fall and winter!
South Nation Conservation (SNC) owns and manages over 12,000 acres of public natural space, including a network of 15 day-use Conservation Areas that remain open throughout the year.
“Although some of the day-use parks are being prepared for winter, with staff removing docks and picnic tables, many offer groomed trails for your winter enjoyment,” said Jim Hendry, SNC Team Lead, Property.
Hendry encourages residents to get out and enjoy a hike, take their dog for an on-leash walk, bird watch, or go on a geocaching adventure!
“We work with many partners to ensure that our natural spaces remain accessible and provide high quality recreation, as well as, countless educational opportunities to discover wildlife and habitats in Eastern Ontario”, Hendry added.
This year from May to early September, 19,800 visitors were recorded at Findlay Creek, and at High Falls, Two Creeks, and Jessup’s Falls Conservation Areas!
Many activities take place on SNC land including: hunting, trapping, bee keeping, sugar bush operations, logging operations, agricultural cropping, and horseback riding.
Visitors are reminded that non-day use areas may have multiple users at any given time; wearing high visibility clothing is recommended to help identify you to other users.
