South Nation Conservation (SNC) will be hosting its annual fundraising Friends of SNC Golf Tournament this year on August 8 at the Upper Canada Golf Course in Morrisburg.

Players will enjoy an 18-hole round of golf, a powered cart, a breakfast buffet and a barbecue lunch. Participants can also expect door prizes from local businesses, on-hole games and contests, and a hole-in-one cash prize sponsored by RBC Royal Bank.

Proceeds from this year’s tournament will go towards the Conservation Authority’s flagship Maple Syrup Education Program and property upgrades at its new home: the Oschmann Forest in North Dundas.

Earlier this year, SNC successfully relaunched its Maple Syrup Education Program at the Oschmann Forest following a year of fundraising and work to render the forest fit to deliver bilingual environmental education and demonstrations of maple syrup production to local students.

SNC continues to raise funds for permanent washroom facilities and an interpretive education centre at the Oschmann Forest to supplement the program’s curriculum-based content on forest ecology, First Nations natural heritage and maple syrup production.

“This tournament is about more than just golf; it’s about being able to deliver new opportunities and environmental education to hundreds of local students here in Eastern Ontario,” says Taylor Campbell, SNC’s Communications Specialist.

Registration is $100 per player. SNC accepts both team and singles registration; all are welcome to participate. Local businesses are also invited to sponsor the event; three different tiers of sponsorship are available at affordable rates ranging from $100 to $500. Donations for door prizes are likewise welcomed.

“It’s the perfect opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy the local environment, all for a good cause” added Campbell.
